Hampshire based Folk-Roots artist, Megan Linford, has a unique sound drawing on inspiration from; Traditional Folk, Roots + Blues, Nature and Poetry, she has blended these to create her own style. Megan starting gigging around the South at 16 and after receiving the 2014 Sussex Young Folk Performer award a year later; Megan went on to support many renowned Folk artists including; The Oyster Band, Flossie Malavialle, Martha Tilston and BBC 2 Young Folk Award winners Ciaran Algar and Greg Russell. In 2016, after graduating from ACM, Megan released her 2nd EP and first project with her band – The 5 track EP, called Rhiver, was the first step toward the growth of her sound. Years of writing, recording and playing shows later; 2019 started with receiving the Portsmouth Guide Awards - Best Soloist 2019. Already a regular on the Souths Folk Circuit and finding her roots in London, Megan has just come to the end of a busy Summer of Festivals and gigs. Her band now includes; Jack Beech (Bass), Rob Greenstock (Drums), Joe-Houghton Gisby (Guitar+BackingVox), Ben Reid (Keys+BackingVox), Jamie Wilson (Cello). Megan is now a Promoter of a Folk/Roots night in her hometown of Portsmouth and Acoustic Guitar specialist at the Souths biggest Guitar showroom, Megan has been learning from every side of the industry and fine tuning her craft. With a string of exciting support shows and having already self- released 2 EP’s and 3 Singles, Megan is working on her first Album set for release in 2020
